How Reiki Works

Reiki is a Japanese technique designed to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and encourage healing. This practice involves the gentle "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us, giving us life. When our life force energy is low, we are more susceptible to illness and stress. Conversely, when it is high, we feel healthier, happier, and more balanced.

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning "Universal Wisdom" or "Higher Power," and Ki, meaning "life force energy." Together, Reiki translates to "spiritually guided life force energy."

A Reiki treatment feels like a warm, glowing energy flowing through and around you. It treats the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and spirit—creating a deep sense of relaxation, peace, and well-being. Many people experience profound benefits and even report transformative results.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of healing and self-improvement that anyone can use. It has been shown to help with a wide variety of physical, emotional, and mental conditions while complementing other medical or therapeutic treatments. Reiki can also help relieve side effects and support recovery, making it a powerful addition to your wellness journey.

What to Expect During a Reiki Session

For your Reiki session with me, please dress comfortably. You’ll lie on my table on your back, fully clothed, as I guide you through the session. I begin by gently placing my hands on your solar plexus (just below your ribs) and then work my way down your right side, around to your left side, and usually finish at your head. The entire session lasts about one hour.

Throughout the session, I often have my eyes closed, and I invite you to do the same. We’ll start with some deep breathing, followed by natural rhythmic breathing to help you relax. During the session, you may experience a variety of sensations, such as tingling, twitching, or even emotional shifts. These responses are completely normal and welcomed as part of the healing process.

This is typically an interactive experience unless you’ve requested a quiet session in advance. I often share insights about what I’m feeling and seeing throughout the session to help you better connect with the process.

Reiki healing is a deeply personal and unique experience for everyone. I believe it’s one of the most magical and transformative healing modalities, and I’m honored to guide you through it.
